Toronto is a city that I hold near and dear to my heart! It’s always been an exciting international location, but in the last 5-10 years, it’s really started to shine as a city with a vibrant progressive culture and modern architecture. The waterfront area is the best place to catch a shot of the city skyline. (Side note – It’s even more beautiful at night, but I digress.) The skyline is predominantly comprised of blues, grays, blacks & whites thanks to all of the modern glass buildings and condos that have been sprouting like wildflowers recently. The water adds an additional hit of blue and makes for an exceptionally cohesive backdrop for photos. We arrived in this spot early enough to have it all to ourselves on this sunny April morning. These photos were shot on a Canon 5D MkII camera with a 50mm and a 24-105mm lens. For the edit, I wanted to exclusively use brushes from The Brush Collection. Sometimes you just want a subtle splash of editing here and there and that’s where this collection can really shine. I used some of my basic brushes – (Brighten 2 & Soften 2) to get that soft blue sky look. Then I used some of my makeup brushes (Teeth Whiten 1, Lips & Pink, Skin Smooth 1) to edit my complexion. I also used some of my other basic brushes (Enhance & Sharpen 2) on the title photo and the portrait oriented skyline shot below to get that crisp/defined look in the buildings. The result is a natural looking edit with subtle enhancements that compliment the original untouched shots. Looking for more presets? The Complete Collection has got you covered with hundreds of chic looks to play with, including the brushes that I mentioned! If you ever find yourself in Toronto, take a trip down to the waterfront and grab some shots, you won’t regret it. Happy Editing!
